Mark has recently become the latest Chairman of our Care Standards Committee. Mark’s brother Gary has been living at the Torpoint Nursing Centre for the last six months. When invited to take the role Mark accepted without hesitation. “The team here have given Gary an awful lot of time, energy and support, when asked about becoming Chairman I felt that I really wanted to give something back”.
Mark also holds the view that he is well placed to keep a watching brief over the standard of care that service users receive. “I tend to come and visit Gary pretty much every day. Due to work commitments the timing of my visits usually varies from day to day. This has given me the opportunity to get to know many of the staff and see the day to day issues for myself. When we decided to place Gary here we were impressed that Torcare had such a committee in place, we have experience of several other establishments that did not have such a committee.” |
